Eco Dhobi started with a small, slightly annoying observation. Every laundry bottle in every Indian home is mostly water and harsh chemicals packaged in plastic, priced like a premium product, and thrown away the moment it's empty.
We thought we could do better than that.
The Why
I'm Sanket, and I built Eco Dhobi out of Kota in 2026.
I'm not a sustainability evangelist. I'm a fairly busy person who got tired of the same small, recurring annoyances most of us just put up with: dragging a heavy detergent jug home, the sticky ring it leaves on the shelf, the powder dust on the floor, the half-spilled cap in the laundry area, and the second bottle of fabric softener I always forgot to buy.
None of these are big problems on their own.
But they add up.
The push to actually do something about it came from watching my mom.
She has arthritis. The kind of arthritis that turns ordinary household tasks into small, daily negotiations. And one of the things I noticed, again and again, was how much she struggled with the laundry detergent bottle, twisting the cap, lifting the jug, measuring out the right dose without spilling.
A 2.5 kg liquid bottle isn't designed for hands that hurt.
Neither is a powder pack you have to scoop from.
None of the Indian detergent industry has ever stopped to ask whether the people actually doing the laundry can comfortably hold what they're selling.
I started looking for something simpler, something that worked for my mom, for people who live in small flats, for people who travel often, and for anyone who doesn't want to think about laundry
more than they have to.
The detergent sheet format had been around for a while in the West, but
nothing on the Indian shelf was built for Indian households, Indian water, or Indian budgets.
So I built it.
The fact that it's also plastic-free, biodegradable, and free of the harshest chemicals. That's not the headline.
That's just what happens when you start from "make it easier for the people I love"
and refuse to cut corners along the way.
What We Made
A laundry detergent sheet powered by a 5-enzyme blend: Protease, Amylase, Lipase, Cellulase, Mannanase that does the job of a full bottle of liquid detergent and a bottle of fabric softener, in one thin sheet you toss into the drum!
No plastic bottle.
No measuring cap.
No optical brighteners.
No parabens or phosphates.
Just a kraft paper box, 30 sheets and an ingredient list we publish in full because
we have nothing to hide.
It works in hard water, in top-loaders and front-loaders, in hot and cold cycles, and on everything from your softest cottons to a week's worth of gym clothes.
It also fits in your backpack, which matters more than you'd think, until the first time you take it on a trip.
